As UX designers, keeping up with the latest trends is a way to know what is happening in the field so that we can have a better perspective on what to adapt and what needs to be changed.

I will be talking about 5 main UX trends that people are talking about.

  1. Folding Menus

It reminds me of a real experience when reading a magazine or a book and you can fold the pages or skip to chapters physically.

2. Realimorphism

People might get bored with flatted UI’s so that designers are trying to create a “real” look of an experience. It’s like you are actually holding an object in your hands such as the example above.

3. Wood Textures

Talking about Wood Textures. It reminds me of the 90’s—my grandma's favorite taste. She would like somethings woody, vintage and sturdy. However, this is not too “bad”. I would love to try this app but to be honest, I am not sure if this trend will attract young people under 25.

4. Mobile Site

When mobile apps are super popular, making them become mobile sites is a smart idea. An app that can do everything as a laptop from displaying full content to conveying necessary information to users. This would be a big step for 2021.

5. Action Gradient

This design is cool. I can see the vibe is spreading from 2020 when big companies like Apple and Facebook are taking this trend.

Looking to see all the new trends coming in 2021. I also hope for 2021—a better year.
